Biography

James M. Elegante has provided legal counsel to corporate boards, executives, and management teams. Mr. Elegante has deep experience in the mining and manufacturing industries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He has provided legal guidance in Strategic Alliances and Joint Ventures, often in international businesses. He has served as a director of several European-based companies, and he served as General Counel and board member to Rio Tinto America. In his role with Rio Tinto America, Mr. Elegante helped organize and lead the beginnings of the Day-break project, a major planned urban development located in the southwest Salt Lake Valley. Since his graduation from the University of Utah School of Law, he has practices with several major U.S. based law firms representing national and international corporations in their business dealings both in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Elegante is listed on the U.S. Roster of Commercial Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Elegante has contributed to his profession through the publication of several scholarly articles and book chapters and through his frequent speaking engagements in professional seminars and workshops.
